Day Four

Aruba

We were a bit surprised to find that Aruba is, as you can see on the left, essentially a desert island--not at all the lush tropical paradise one might have expected. At the right you see Marilyn with new-found Aruba friends.

As you can see from Marilyn's umbrella, our day in Aruba was a rainy one. Below we see Marilyn discussing with some emus the popularity of their name in crossword puzzles. They seem interested.

As you can no doubt see, our first stop on Aruba was an ostrich farm--a more accurate description would be an ostrich-emu farm, but ostriches get top billing.

Among other things, we visited a "natural bridge" (which has recently collapsed), visited a light house, and tested the local beer.

We were back on board and on our way to Cartegena, Columbia, by sunset.
