I started playing the clarinet in the fifth grade and continued playing through high school. In high school I was a member of the award winning Prince George High School Marching and Concert Band, from Prince George County, Virginia. The highlights of being in the band were marching in the Macy's Thankgiving Day parade and the Orange Bowl Parade.

I attended Virginia Commonwealth University where I majored in Electrical-Electronics Technology. During the 40 plus years my clarinet was in storage, I worked in the computer industry as a Field Service Engineer, Systems Support Engineer, and Software Support Specialist. I retired in 2001 and worked part time at a copy/print shop. In 2006 I retired for good and that is when I discovered the East Cobb New Horizons Band. I fixed up my old clarinet, dug out my old beginning band books, and taught myself to play again. I joined the East Cobb New Horizons Band in October 2006. In April 2007, I joined the Atlanta New Horizons Band. Just recently, I joined the Southern Winds Concert Band in Roswell, Georgia. I also recently joined a German Band made up of members mostly from the East Cobb New Horizons Band.

My other hobbies include golf, travel, computer stuff, and my favorite - cycling. See Bike Ride Across Georgia. My wife, Sherry, and I have been married for 37 years and live in Marietta.
