Salpi Adrouny

I am an Armenian-American born in the ancient city of Aleppo, Syria. My Dad came as a graduate student to Emory University in the 1950's, and I am very grateful to have become a naturalized US Citizen at age 15.

I graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University, did graduate work at the U. of Wisconsin, and then came back to Tulane for my medical degree. Growing up mostly in New Orleans, I am especially fond of Dixieland jazz!

I just retired as a Family Physician from Kaiser Permanente, in Alpharetta, where I had been practicing for the last 8 years. Previously, I practiced in Roswell, and previous to that, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . After 32 years as a Family Doc, both in Wisconsin and then in metro Atlanta, I am now retired and free to pursue other interests—mostly musical!

I started playing flute in the 5th grade, at Druid Hills Elementary school, in Decatur in 1956, and have been playing on and off since. I have been playing with the Sounds of Sawnee Community Band, in Cumming since 1995, and joined Southern Winds in the Summer of 2010. I am also in a flute choir which I recently joined.

My other interests include a Book Club, traveling, bicycling, swimming, movies, listening to NPR and watching PBS.I am also trying to learn to cook again !

I am delighted and honored to be a part of Southern Winds under the great directorship of Jim Moody !
